Flipping through what’s on my downloaded vlogs I came across this entry with you sitting in the car — it just struck me as such a heartfelt little protest. I completely identified with your sentiments and said to myself we should all move to Canada and start a settlement! It just feels that way some days, huh? I am 44 and was in my 20s during Reagan’s era and literaly spent 8 years repeating to myself that I must be having a bad dream (there was, of course, the other piece: AIDS, friends dropping like flies and I had only been out a short time when it all started).

My partner (7 gloriously monogomous years!)tends to watch the news and reads several newspapers daily. He sends me the articles he thinks are important. I just try to avoid it all and do what I can in my little sphere of the world: I don’t toleralte gay jokes, our families now we are together and our neighbors don’t think we are “roomates” and to the extent possible by law refuse to be discriminated against — and yet… I live in Brooklyn in NYC — you would think the gay thing would not be an issue and I would be surrounded by liberal democrats. Na. The shit we encounter - the fact that we might literally get stoned if we held hands in the street in our neighborhood - really makes me want to start that settlement in Canada.

…and it was a tough week. We are being audited at my agency (social work with MICA pop) and the pressure is intense in addition to the work with the clients, which is always intense and consistenely pockmarked with daily crises.
