Family as Prop in the US Senate. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) debates the Federal Marriage Amendment on the Senate Floor. He is proud of his family and it’s lack of divorce and gays. The rest of the world wonders why poverty is high, our soldiers are dying, and people can’t read.
I’m sorry for going off on another political rant, but I can’t just stand back and let this man speak for my state. There are so many more important things that need to be addressed than a ban on something that’s already illegal and has no hope of passing.

Same thing here in the Northwest. A few vocal, homophobic right-wing politicians — obsessed with preserving what they like to call “traditional family values” — feeding their twisted, hateful ways to the ignorant masses. Really, just who is trying to push whose lifestyle on whom?
Like you said, there are plenty of REAL issues in this country that need to be addressed. It’s too bad our elected officials can’t seem to put as much effort into eradicating poverty and illiteracy, or promoting some kind of affordable gasoline alternatives, as they do to ridding the country of homosexuals and flag-burners.
