I’ve seen a few movies lately. Since I don’t have a vlog post ready I thought I might talk about them a bit (I’m procrastinating).

First of all, I saw An Inconvenient Truth. If you haven’t seen this film yet, go NOW. Like I told all the crazy right wingers at work, it is worth it to put aside your politics and just go listen to the message. If this film doesn’t wake you up to the issues of climate change and global warming, I don’t know what will. Plus, I left with the strange desire to vote for Al Gore for President again. This movie scared the hell out of me, and it had none of the usual horror movie ingredients (you know, Lindsay Lohan singing, Paris Hilton acting, or Tom Cruise, well, just being himself).

Four Stars. Highly Recommended (it isn’t, however, recommended for you to drive to the theater in your gas-guzzling SUV. The shame you feel when walking back to that 14 MPG Earth-raper will be immense.).

Second, we took in A Prairie Home Companion. If you’ve ever been in the car on a Sunday and turned on NPR, you know what this film is about. The casting was excellent, the dialog brilliant, but may not be as interesting to non-NPR fanatics. It is worth it to see Lily Tomlin and Meryl Streep on the same stage singing. Plus, Woody Harrelson and the other guy were funny as hell!

Three Stars. Recommended for NPR-loving Hippies.

Number three is Superman. Great directing, phenomenal effects, and a decent story. I’m just a little confused as to how the…little plot twist…fits in with the rest of the Superman universe. Two

Two Stars. Recommended just to see Brandon Routh in that outfit.

And finally, The Devil Wears Prada on some pretty raw emotion that is present in the missing storylines. Meryl Streep is vicious!

Three Stars. Recommended just so you can read the book to see how much better it is.

Well, I’m off. I hope everyone has had a good week. I’ll be posting an entry soon, so stay tuned!

Hrm, I’m quite curious what “A Prairie Home Companion” is like. Watching him take his show on the road (this time in Chicago’s Ravinia park) was delightful - so the movie is quite curious.

And “An Inconvenient Truth” is so on my radar. Perhaps today… hrm

Joel:

“Inconvenient Truth” has prompted me to think seriously about switching from my beloved SUV to a hybrid. I’ve gone Hybrid shopping the last two weekends!

It’s a very powerful film.

Excellent. I’m so glad to see that not only did Justin go see the movie but he’s taking action! Fantastic. Seeing the movie isn’t enough, one must act.

I’m greatly enjoying your vlogs Justin :)
