I’m walking to Starbucks to meet some friends for coffee. Come along with me and see some blurry images of Brookside, my neighborhood.

Craig, Michael and I insulated our houses this weekend with cellulose, a material that is 85% recycled products. It’s neat to see words from newsprint and identify grocery store bags in your insulation!

Number One: That little camera takes awesome video! The audio’s not so great. It sort of made you sound like you had a bit of a lateral lisp, but I guess most of us girly boys do anyway. But the video — loved the footage from the street, with all the tracers from the neon signs and car lights. That would be a hard effect to recreate, and that little camera does it by itself!

Number Two: Okay, maybe I’m paranoid, or maybe things have changed in the last couple years, but doesn’t Starbucks have a pretty strict policy about not taking video or photographs on their property? You know, to protect all those corporate secrets? Like how they consistently manage to ruin a perfectly good cup of bean-wash every time they brew a cup? Or am I more bitter than their coffee?

Number Three: I dunno WHAT’S up with my Skype icon — sometimes it says I’m online when I’m not, and visa-versa. I don’t know if my little 1.5 megabit connection could handle it anyway. We should try it out sometime. Oh, and BTW, thank you very much for the disco thing, its hella kool!

Tim:

I like the video effects of the camera as well. I’m always a little surprised about how certain things turned out. My favorite shot was the last of the green neon sign for Alioli.

I was going to say something about the lisp-sounding voice (the audio is AWFUL) but I decided to just let it go. It really gayed me up (not that it had far to go).

I didn’t realize that there had ever been any controversy about Starbucks and photography until I read your comment. After some googling I find that this was a big issue a few years ago. Luckily, there was no issue at my little Starbucks in Brookside, and hopefully there won’t be in the future.

I’m having the same issue with Skype, so I know what you mean. It’s kind of a crapshoot. Glad you like Disco…I haven’t played with it much yet, but I’m going to this weekend.

I’m editing a new vlog to post tomorrow, because I want to talk politics. I’m a little scruffy in this one, so you’ll have to look past that.

That is some really cool footage, mate. And the new intro’s cool.

It was cool talking to you on Skype, and (with reference to the call), today I found out that my carol will be performed in Bath Abbey on the 4th Dec.

Oh, and that advice you gave me a while back… paid off!
