Tulsa kicked off the April 28 National Impeachment Protest a day early during Dick Cheney’s visit to Oklahoma.

About 100 protesters from groups all over the state gathered outside the Doubletree Hotel where Cheney spoke at a fundraiser for Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe.

Ten protesters were arrested in a non-violent die-in demonstration, each wearing a letter and forming the word IMPEACH!

The event was organized by a variety of groups, including the Tulsa chapter of DFA and Tulsa Peace Fellowship.

Sad news tonight.  Kurt Vonnegut, my favorite author of all time, has passed away.

I learned a lot from Vonnegut’s works, but two of his quotes stick with me at all times.
On politics:

“There is a tragic flaw in our precious Constitution, and I don’t know what can be done to fix it. This is it: Only nut cases want to be president.”

On Life:

“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be.”

Goodbye, Kurt.  You’ll be missed.
